PRP/PRFM

Purpose

Over the last several years, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has gained quite a bit of momentum due to its healing effects in many well- known athletes such as Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal as well as, celebrities, Kim Kardashian and Bar Refaeli. While the purpose for each is very different, sports injury versus aesthetic enhancement, the results are undeniable, PRP is healing from the inside out.

Benefits

The major component of PRP are platelets which hold growth factors known to be a part of the natural process in the which our bodies heal itself. Application of PRP to the dermis, either topically during micro-needling procedures or injected into a focused area, helps to soften fine lines and plump the skin by increasing collagen production. The most alluring aspect of this procedure is the fact that it is all natural, derived directly from the patient! This also removes the risk of allergic reaction which is unknown when using other synthetic products. PRP is beneficial for all patients but particularly for those who have yet to do any procedures to their skin but are seeing signs of aging via decreased volume in the cheeks, fine lines around the eyes, frown lines or deep smile lines. It is also commonly used in conjunction with Juvéderm® fillers creating the popular procedure Vampire Facelift ®, which we also offer!

Treatment

Your aesthetic nurse will draw a vial or your blood which will then be spun through a centrifuge to isolate the PRP from the red blood cells. Various modalities are used to utilize the PRP including, micro- needling (Vampire Facial/Facelift®) and stand-alone injections for concerns with poor elasticity and the need for collagen production in targeted areas.

Foreseeable Risks and Discomforts

Contraindications

PRP is your body’s own natural substance, therefore you do not run a risk of having any allergic response to the treatment.
